A rumor has been doing the rounds these days about Google launching its own music service in association with partners LaLa and iLike. As per the report from TechCrunch, users will have to access this service through search.
It is reported that users will be able to access music through Google search via its partners LaLa and iLike and additional information about the music query will also be displayed on the webpage. It is believed that the website will organize this search in a similar manner to the way public company stock searches are conducted.
For example, when you type in a query about U2 in the search box, all the information regarding the band which includes photographs, background information, history and a list of all their music albums which can be reviewed and played will be displayed. Google intends this new tool to be a one stop shop for all its music crazy users.
The rumor about Google launching its own music service started way back in 2006 but no official information has come out from the company’s representatives though subtle hints have been dropped especially in the recent times.
It is also assumed that delivering music to mobile services will also become a part of the new Google music service. Right now, Android users get their music downloads via an arrangement with Amazon’s music store. This could mean that Google could pose more competition to Apple with the launch of this new music service.
Reports have also come out that GTunes will provide e-commerce links to Amazon and iTunes music store enabling users to download their favorite ones. The launch of this new music service from Google will be a much awaited one for music fans all around the world and could be a runaway success too.
