Google’s Marissa Meyer has announced the launch of the latest innovative tool ‘Social Search’ at the Web 2.0 Summit. She said that this tool will be bought out in the coming weeks but nothing more was really said about its features.
TechCrunch reported that Social Search which is being launched by the Google Labs will allow users to visualize results for queries from other people who belong to your social network. The tool will make use of your Google Profile for this and if you fill in the names of other social networks that you are a member of, then this information will also be scanned and you will be able to view queries from those people too.
For example, if you were to do a search about a particular topic using this tool, you will get regular search results and also those from the people who are a part of your network. These results will be displayed at the bottom of the regular search pages for the user to visualize. Links from any other social networking site like Orkut or Facebook can also be added to your account.
This latest Social Search tool from Google can be considered as a personalized search engine to tap into your social network as it has been shown that search results can be influenced to a great deal by friends and followers and takes cue from your behavior patterns too.
In addition to this news, Google also announced that it has struck a partnership with Twitter to enable them to use Twitter data which could be of a definite help to Social Search. Google has been known to possess a special query algorithm that lets them find new pages rather quickly and this deal with Twitter can only fasten these results. This innovation is definitely one to look out for in the coming days.
